I’ve been a student of Choices Charter School since 7th grade when I enrolled back in early 2008 I was reading at a 3rd level and with the help of my wonderful Mother Tammy and Teacher’s Mrs.O’brien, Mrs.Strauch, Mrs.Cermak, Mr.Rakela, Mrs.Antos, Mrs.Cave & Mrs.Song, I was reading at a 12th-grade level by the end of the 9th grade these people stuck by me every step of the way and always made feel like I was amongst friends and always gave me the confidence to get through anything within my Education and the drive to accomplish anything and Live To Win!

Teachers and staff are wonderful. They keep close contact with students and parents to make sure the student gets his/her assignments done. Computer access/program makes it easy for the parents (and students) to see upcoming assignments, grades and time the student has actually been online completing assignments. Great school!

While not a parent of a student (just an aunt) I was moved to write this review because this small staff has raised a large sum in scholarships to provide to their students. The staff is clearly bonded to the kids and it was touching. This year 8 kids rec’d scholarships including the munchkin I was supporting today. It’s quite a phenomenal feat to raise these funds and this act shows a genuine commitment to their students. Thank you Charter Choices for your commitment to the children.

I can not even put in to words how Thankful I am for this school. My son is a Senior there and had we not made the switch when he was a sophomore he would not be graduating. The staff has always been very accommodating. Thank God for Choices.

Choices Charter School, Helped me out a lot, I’m about to go to high school, after this school year, And I started in 7th grade, due to a lot of fighting with other students. Since I started choices, I haven’t gotten in any fights, and my social anxiety is getting better. It’s a great school.

I liked how the teachers in San Jan Choices Charter School always give attention to each student, wanting to know better individually. Different from my experience in public school, Choices encourages you to have goals for the future such as going to college or to a university and to find a specific major you would want to really get into. And what I think that Choices Charter School should do to make itself better is to put up more electives, classes, and sports.

My oldest son has been at CCS since 7th grade (4 years total) and overall I love this school. Most of the teachers are excellent and really care about the students, not just on an academic level but the whole person, their goals, their strengths and weaknesses… and they work hard to help them in any way they can. Its a great balance between public school and home school. Our 2nd son will begin his journey at CCS next year and we are excited!

I have two teenage sons that attended Choices. They both enjoyed the classes and teachers. I appreciated the teachers because they showed they cared about my sons’ education. The teachers’ attitude encouraged them to complete their assignments, and reach out for more. The level of parent involvement is great. The teachers contact you when your child needs help, they don’t wait until it is too late. The counselors are also great. They help the students plan their future and head them in the right direction for the career of their choice.

This really is an outstanding school. It allows you to work at your own pace, and it offers valuable and interesting courses which many schools do not. My daughter has excelled in her work since I’ve taken her out of her previous school where she had trouble keeping up her grades and staying on track. I have been able to save money by working two jobs this year, for going to this school gives me the time I need to focus on school and other priorities, while still receiving just as high of an education as I would have if I still went to another San Juan School. I love the outdoors and consider myself an adrenaline junkie. Besides regular hiking, camping, biking, and traveling, I love looking for new adventures. Skydiving, bungee jumping, scuba diving, snowboarding, and wakeboarding are all activities I have tried and I’m up for even more new adventures in the future! I have three children, a middle schooler, a high schooler, and a college sophomore, and I’ve been married to my wife for 27 years. I love animals and our family has a sweet Golden Retriever, two cats, and two rabbits.

Education has been a passion of mine for over 23 years and I have served as a teacher, a technology coordinator, a vice-principal, and a principal. My goal is that Choices Charter School would be a place where all students feel welcome to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners. That our school would be a place that encourages hard work, teaches and demonstrates kindness, and understands that learning and growth happen when we make mistakes. We will strive to provide a world-class education for all students that prepares all students for their high school, college, and career goals. Choices Charter School is truly an extraordinary choice!
